This weekend is the greatly anticipated Harlem Ambassadors Basketball game against our local players, the Lake County Rebounders. Ticket sales have picked up so don't wait too long to get yours! Will-Call orders can be taken over the phone using a credit card and then held for your arrival at the Eustis High School Gym. Remember that the office closes at 4 PM on Friday, February 17th. Tickets will be available at the door for $7 and $12.
Speaking of basketball, did you know that Dwight Howard was the leading vote-getter for the NBA All-Star game? He received 1.6 million votes and will start as the Eastern Conference's center for a 5th consecutive year. The Dwight Howard autographed basketball is a wonderful chance to win a highly collectible piece of sports history. Tickets are $5 each or $25 for 6 and only 300 tickets will be sold! The drawing will be held at the end of the GWBF Button Drawing activity on Sunday, February 26th. You need not be present to win.
Also, don't overlook the chance to enter the GeorgeFest Button Drawing. The prize list is looking excellent with over 115 donations. Purchasing a 2012 GWBF Button could be the best $2 you have spent so far this year!
Continue to check out the Chamber website for up-to-the minute information about the festival. it's hard to believe that we are just 10 days away. Remember to register for the baking, parade and dog jog activities. No more parade applications will be taken after 12:00 noon on Friday, February 17th.
Here's an overview of upcoming events:
- Sunday, February 19th - Harlem Ambassadors Basketball Game at Eustis High School, 1300 E. Washington Avenue. Advanced sale tickets are $5 for children 12 and under and $10 for adults. Tickets at the door will cost $7 and $12 respectively. Call the Chamber to buy your tickets today: 352-357-3434.
- Monday, February 20th - VIP Reception By Invitation Only. 5:30 - 7:30 PM at the Eustis Community Center.
- Wednesday, February 22nd - Carnival opens in Ferran Park at 5:30 PM.
- Thursday, February 23rd - Business After Hours sponsored by Ultimate Leads & Breakfast Club. RSVP will be required.
- Friday through Sunday (February 24th - 26th) - 110th Annual GeorgeFest Celebration. Theme: Made in America. Print an agenda from the Chamber web site. The special supplement from The Daily Commercial will be out this Sunday!
Don't forget the chamber services if you need copies made for advertising inserts,presentation materials, or any type of handout. Our prices are competitive and turn around times are great. Prices for members are: $0.39 per page for FULL COLOR and $0.06 per page for Black/White. Most orders can be completed & readied for pick-up within the same business day. Florida Hospital Waterman will host a medical lecture on February 23rd at 4 PM titled, "Heart Matters: Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment." FHW Medical Office Building, 3rd Floor, Team Rooms I and II. RSVP required: 352-253-3388.
Home Builders Association of Lake-Sumter has announced the 2012 Parade of Homes. The event will be held on April 14-15 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Builder and Remodeler entries area being accepted now through February 23rd. Contact 352-343-7101 for more information. Entry forms are available on the web site: www.lakehba.com
Lake Technical Center announced that the month of February is National Career and Technical Education Month. This year's theme is Careers Through Education. Also the annual Advisory Committee Reception is set for 6 PM on February 23rd in the Lake Tech Student Center. Finally, Save the Date! On April 14th-15th the Lake Tech Fire Fighting Academy will host the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge. There will be a kick-off golf tournament at the Mission Inn at 1 PM on April 13th. Life's Choices of Lake County is having their Walk 4 Life event on Saturday, March 3rd in Ferran Park.
New Vision for Independence will host a Living Well Expo on March 14th from 1 - 4 PM at Lake Sumter Community College in the Magnolia Room.

Central Florida Health Alliance recently announced the names of new board members. This board of directors is a volunteer governing body for Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Health System.

Insight Credit Union announced the promotion of seven outstanding employees to the position of Assistant Vice President. Together, the employees represent over 50 years of service to Insight Credit Union.
Lake County Schools sent a press release announcing that Eustis High Assistant Principal, Kevin Thompson, has a debut novel coming out this month, The Serpent's Grasp. The genre is a scientific-suspense thriller. The book will be available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million.
New Vision for Independence needs your opinion! The organization is asking you to participate in an on-line survery to gauge the community's approach to employing a person who is visually impaired or blind.
